Hassan Bagheri
Hengaw Organisation for Human Right - 10 June 2024
<<Jakan Baran's brother summoned and threatened by Iranian authorities
Hassan Bagheri, the brother of Hossein Bagheri (known as Jakan Baran),
was summoned to the Ilam court, where he faced interrogation and
threats. This action occurs amid ongoing uncertainty about his brother's
whereabouts. Hossein Bagheri, a colleague at Hengaw, is potentially a
victim of enforced disappearance by the Islamic Republic of Iran.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human
Rights, on Sunday, June 9, 2024, 41-year-old Hassan Bagheri was summoned
to the Ilam court. Following three hours of interrogation and a detailed
explanation of the charge of <action against national security,> he was
temporarily released on bail. A source close to the Bagheri family
reported that Hassan Bagheri received a warning from the Ilam court
regarding any efforts to investigate his brother's situation or to leave
the country for that purpose. The whereabouts of Hossein Bagheri, also
known as <Jakan Baran,> a Kurdish poet, civil and political activist,
and colleague of Hengaw, have remained unknown for three months. It is
suspected that he has fallen victim to the enforced disappearance
policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran. It is noteworthy that Hassan
Bagheri, along with his sister Fariba Bagheri, was arrested by Iranian
security forces on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, during the 'Woman, Life,
Freedom' (Jin, Jiyan, Azadi) movement.>>

Kamal Sharifi
Hengaw Organisation for Human Right - 9 June 2024
<<Kurdish Political Prisoner Kamal Sharifi Deprived of Fundamental
Rights After 17 Years of Imprisonment by Iranian Authorities
After seventeen years of imprisonment, Kamal Sharifi, a Kurdish
political prisoner, is still deprived of his fundamental rights in Minab
Prison. Given his current health condition, it seems impossible for him
to endure serving his sentence. According to reports received by the
Hengaw, Kamal Sharifi, a 52-year-old Kurdish political prisoner and
journalist from Saqqez, is in his seventeenth year of imprisonment and
remains deprived of the right to leave and family visits. Sharifi is
still being held in the ward for dangerous criminals in Minab Prison,
Hormozgan Province, and continues to face physical and psychological
abuse from prison officials and security agencies. Recent reports on
Sharifi's health indicate that his teeth have been broken due to
repeated torture and beatings during his detention and interrogation by
the Intelligence Department. He is in urgent need of medical attention.
Notably, Sharifi suffered strokes and heart attacks in 2012 and 2020. In
the first incident, he lost the ability to move the right side of his
body. During the second incident, he underwent surgery in a hospital in
Bandar Abbas. Sharifi was sentenced to 30 years of imprisonment and
exile to Minab Prison in a five-minute trial presided over by Judge
Shayegh of Branch 1 of the Saqqez Revolutionary Court on charges of
<waging war against God through membership in the Democratic Party of
Iranian Kurdistan.> He has been denied all prisoner rights, including
leave, employment, family visits, and other forms of communication.
During his only in-person visit in 2012, on the 48th day of his hunger
strike, the brother and mother of Kamal Sharifi visited him in the
prison warden's office with several prison staff present. Sharifi
stated, <I was not even allowed to speak Kurdish with my mother; they
forced me to speak Persian, which my mother does not understand.> This
brief visit was arranged solely by the Sanandaj Intelligence Department
to end Sharifi's hunger strike. Kamal Sharifi was arrested by IRGC
forces on May 25, 2008. He was transferred blindfolded and handcuffed to
the Sanandaj Intelligence Department detention center by order of the
Saqqez prosecutor on the same day. On May 12, 2009, Sharifi was
transferred to Minab Central Prison, where he has since been deprived of
all his fundamental rights due to pressure from the Sanandaj
Intelligence Department. It is also noteworthy that in 1989 and 1990,
Sharifi was sentenced to two years in prison and 40 lashes by the Saqqez
Revolutionary Court on charges of <supporting and collaborating with the
Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan.> >>

<<PMOI Resistance Units Champion #FreeIran2024 with 10,000 Brave Acts
Despite severe repression, the Resistance Units of the People's
Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) have undertaken at least
10,000 acts of support for the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI)
and its President-elect, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi. The PMOI is a central
component of the NCRI. The PMOI Resistance Units have executed these
acts in the lead-up to NCRI's annual gathering and rally, #FreeIran2024.
These brave actions, conducted openly in daylight, reaffirm the PMOI
Resistance Units' dedication to overthrowing the theocratic regime and
establishing a pluralistic, democratic republic grounded in the
separation of religion and state and gender equality. The units also
propagate the Iranian Resistance's slogan, 'Woman, Resistance, Freedom,'
highlighting women's pivotal role in the struggle for regime change and
freedom in Iran. By continuing to organize and mobilize across various
Iranian cities, the PMOI Resistance Units convey a clear message to the
regime: their voices will not be silenced, and their calls for a
democratic Iran will persist undeterred. Through their efforts, the PMOI
Resistance Units emphasize the core principles of the Iranian
Resistance, including a commitment to a democratic republic, separation
of religion and state, gender equality, and the abolition of the death
penalty, standing in stark contrast to the ruling theocracy's oppressive

<<Dry Hunger Strike by Hamideh Zerai in Lakan Prison, Rasht
Hamideh Zerai, a Gilak resident of Karaj who was violently arrested last
Wednesday, has gone on a hunger strike in Lakan Prison, Rasht, to
protest her illegal detention. She was also arrested and imprisoned
during the Women, Life, Freedom movement. According to a report received
by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Hamideh Zerai, political
prisoner from Rasht and a resident of Karaj, has started a dry hunger
strike in Lakan Prison, Rasht, from the early morning of Saturday, June
8, 2024, to protest her illegal detention and the violence inflicted
during her arrest. A close relative of the Zerai family stated that
Hamideh Zerai has announced she will continue her hunger strike and
refrain from eating and drinking until she is released. Hamideh Zerai
was arrested for the third time in the past two years on Wednesday, June
5, after being summoned to Rasht Court, and was transferred to Lakan
Prison, Rasht. Hengaw has learned that she had a brief phone call with
her family. While serving her exile sentence, Hamideh Zerai reported to
the Golsar neighborhood police station in Rasht every three days. She
was summoned to court after refusing to wear the chador as ordered by
the head of the police station. Previously, she was sentenced by Branch
One of the Revolutionary Court of Karaj, presided over by Judge Mousa
Asef ol-Hosseini, to one year of imprisonment for <propaganda against
the Islamic Republic of Iran,> which was reduced to nine months upon
submission to the ruling. Additionally, Hamideh Zerai was sentenced to
two years of travel ban, two years of prohibition from social media
presence, and two years of compulsory residence in the city of Rasht as
supplementary punishment. She was barred from attending her court

Hamideh Zaraei 2
NCRI - Womens committee - June 8, 2024 - in Women's News
<<Hamideh Zaraei was arrested and transferred to Lakan Prison of Rasht.
On Wednesday, June 5, 2024, Hamideh Zeraii was arrested after visiting
the 13th branch of the Rasht Revolutionary Court in northern Iran. She
was swiftly transferred to Lakan Prison in Rasht. Recently, Hamideh
Zeraii was summoned to the same court to provide explanations. However,
her appearance led to her immediate arrest and subsequent transfer back
to Lakan prison. Following a two-year banishment sentence to Rasht,
Hamideh had to report to the 14 Golsar police station at three-day
intervals. The police officers imposed a condition: she must wear a veil
during her visits, but Hamideh, a staunch opponent of mandatory hijab,
protested this requirement. Defiantly refusing to declare her presence
in the city to which she had been exiled, Hamideh was summoned again to
the 13th branch of the Rasht Revolutionary Court. On May 29, 2023,
security forces arrested Hamideh Zeraii at her home and took her to
Kachouii prison in Karaj. In November, she received a harsh sentence
from the 1st branch of the Revolutionary Court in Karaj: One year of
imprisonment; two years of exile to Rasht, the capital of Gilan Province
in northern Iran; two years of travel ban, and two years of internet
restriction. Her prison sentence was eventually reduced to 9 months
after she submitted to the verdict. On February 22, after serving her
prison term, Hamideh Zeraii was released from Kachouii prison in Karaj.
Simultaneously, her two-year exile to Rasht was executed. Hamideh Zaraei,
37 and from Rasht, was a master's student in the Research Sciences
branch at Tehran Azad University. On November 3, 2023, security forces
arrested her during the fortieth-day commemoration of Hadis Najafi in
Karaj. However, on February 7, 2023, following the regime’s amnesty
show, she was released from the Kachouii Prison of Karaj.>>
