Editorial by G. d'A.: Dear reader, as a webmaster also I constantly have to guard the read-ability of the 'Cryfreedom'-outlet and sometimes decisions need to be made to have it be for your convenience and moreso in total support of the women-led revolt in Iran which inevitably will be a grand Victory. Still, choices must be made always and so I've decided to, for now, embed all the actual news about the 'NO-hijab; 'Biological terror attscks against schoolgirls'; 'Iranian journalists under siege'; 'Blinding as a weapon' and 'The hanging spree' as part of the 'Actual news' updates of the Iran 'Woman, Life, Freedom' section. But, if need be and urgent attention and action is needed concerning the above mentioned topics it will get an extra emphasized place as part of the actual news page-layout. Thank you for being a reader and for your support of the 'Woman, Life, Freedom' revolution.

A Father’s Last Journey
Iranwire - October 31, 2024 - by Roghayeh Rezaei
<<38 Years, 4 Children, 1 Dream: A Father's Last Journey for a Safer Life
Dawn broke over Khash like any other morning.
Azim Mahmoudzehi kissed his four children goodbye, their sleepy faces still soft with dreams. His wife's smile held a special warmth that day - it was their wedding anniversary. Thirteen years of shared dreams, four children, and a future they were building together, one careful step at a time. At 38, Azim was ready for change. The life of a fuel carrier was hard, dangerous work, but it had put food on his family's table. Now, he carried their hopes with him on the road to Iranshahr, where a commercial driver's license awaited like a promise of better days. No more precarious fuel runs. No more nights of his wife’s worried waiting. A stable future for his children. The morning light caught his wedding ring as he gripped the steering wheel. First, this test. First, this one step toward that brighter future.
Azim never made it to his driver's test.
Three bullets found him on that road to tomorrow. One struck his temple, and with it fell all the dreams he carried - the anniversary dinner never shared, the license never earned, the future never reached. He had two sons and two daughters. His wife was two months pregnant when he was killed, and she lost the baby due to the stress. Two years after his death, Azim's eldest child is now 13, and his youngest is four and a half.
A source told IranWire that Azim was unable to complete his high school diploma due to financial hardship. Before working as a fuel carrier, he worked as an assistant driver for trucks, a skill he had learned at 16 alongside his brother to support his family. Despite his limited education, Azim cared deeply about his children's studies. Just hours before he was killed, he was working on math with his eldest child, saying, "Nothing in this world is more important to me than my kids." He worked tirelessly so that his children wouldn't suffer, but he did not live to see them grow up.
The source also described Azim as a trusted person in his community, known for his integrity. "He worked hard and earned an honest living," they explained, noting that any truck owner needing an assistant would turn to him. Azim's wife even sold her jewellery to buy him a Pride car so he could transport fuel and, when not doing that, take passengers. Many young men from the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchistan, home to Iran's predominantly Sunni ethnic Baluch minority, engage in transporting fuel to Pakistan as a means of livelihood. They are called fuel carriers or 'sookhtbar' in Persian. However, the Iranian government labels them as <smugglers> and treats them harshly, often subjecting them to the same treatment as terrorists.
Dozens of fuel carriers are killed or injured by Iranian security forces each year.
Human rights activists in Baluchistan explain that high unemployment, lack of job opportunities, widespread poverty, and systemic discrimination force many Baluch people into the dangerous work of fuel transportation. In one of the most recent reports, the Baluch Activists Campaign said that the number of fuel carriers killed and injured in the first half of 2024 had risen by 3.22 per cent compared to the same period last year. Between December 2023 and June 2024, at least 133 Baluch fuel transporters died from causes such as road accidents, direct military fire, high-speed chases, vehicle overturns, and burns. Additionally, 80 fuel transporters were injured - among the casualties were nine children. The dangers of fuel transportation led Azim to pursue a safer line of work. Two weeks before being killed by security forces, he had passed the written exam for a commercial driver's license and was scheduled to take the practical test on Saturday, November 5, 2022, in Iranshahr. According to a source who spoke to IranWire, Azim's family was struggling financially, without a home of their own. They lived in a room provided by his wife's sister, who had also experienced loss. "Yet Azim always thought about progress," the source said. "He worked hard with whatever he had to provide a better life for his wife and children." Azim longed for a home of his own, where he could raise his children in comfort. "He dreamed of getting a commercial driver’s license to work independently and save enough for his children's education," the source explained. "He wanted them to go to university and succeed."
Azim also aspired to be an athlete and was devoted to his wife, whose family had finally agreed to their marriage after years of Azim’s persistence. "They lived together for 13 years, deeply in love."
The source added that Azim had lost his mother as a teenager and grew up facing hardship. Now, his own children endure the pain of his loss. "They were so attached to him - if another child calls their father and they hear, they start crying." Since his death, Azim's eldest son has struggled with depression, so severe at times that he could barely eat.
November 4: Shooting At Everyone in Sight
Thirty-five days after government forces opened fire on worshipers in Zahedan, killing over 100 people, including 16 children, a similar incident occurred in Khash. According to Baloch human rights organizations, on November 4, 2022, and in the days that followed, 18 people were killed by gunshot wounds fired by government forces. Eyewitnesses reported that security forces stationed on top of government buildings fired live rounds directly at people in the streets. Among those killed were several children, including 14-year-old Mobin Mirkazehi and 17-year-old Yaser Bahadorzehi, who reportedly had severe physical and mental disabilities. Yaser’s body was found the next day, several hundred meters from the protest site, riddled with bullets. Two sources told IranWire that on Bloody Friday in Khash, government forces indiscriminately shot at civilians, particularly near government buildings. The area where Azim and his family lived was close to the governor's office in Khash. Azim had just returned home from Friday prayers and was preparing to travel to his sister's house in Iranshahr when the shooting began. Although his wife urged him to stay, fearing for his safety, he assured her he would avoid the city center, saying, "They even shot at God's house, here we sit in silence."
Around 2:30 p.m., Azim set off.
Just minutes after saying goodbye, his wife and sister-in-law heard three gunshots from the street. As he drove through a nearby alley, soldiers on the street spotted him and chased him toward the governor’s office, where they opened fire. At first, a local Telegram group reported that Azim had been in a car accident. His brother relayed this to his wife, who searched the hospital for him to no avail. Later, a distant relative working at Khash's cemetery discovered three blood-soaked bodies abandoned in the cemetery, one of which was Azim's. Residents had recovered the bodies from the streets. The military vehicle that had brought them there left quickly once a crowd gathered. The Mersad forces, a paramilitary unit of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), were responsible. Unlike previous decades when Sistan and Baluchistan was controlled by the IRGC's 41st Sarallah Division under Qassem Soleimani, in recent years, the Islamic Republic has established new bases in the province, including Mersad. According to the source who spoke with IranWire, Azim's face was covered in blood. Security forces had taken his mobile phone, ID card, driver's license, watch, and ring to make his death appear the work of criminals. However, they left a bank card in his pocket, allowing his family to identify him. According to information obtained by IranWire, security forces fired three bullets at Azim's car, one striking a tyre, one the roof, and the last hitting his temple.
After Azim's death, his brothers filed a complaint against the military. They received the same response as other grieving Baluch families in the autumn of 2022: "Accept blood money and move on."
Azim's wife refused, declaring, "I won't take blood money. Even if you give me all of Iran, I won't accept it. My husband was an innocent martyr."
Azim's grave is now located in Mirzaabad, near a cement factory, in the ancestral area where he once dreamed of building a better future for his children.>>
