Narges Mohammadi
Jinha - Womens News Agency - Oct 4 2024
<<Narges Mohammadi prevented from leaving prison to undergo angiography
Evin prison authorities have prevented Nobel Peace Prize laureate Narges
Mohammadi from being transferred to the hospital to undergo angiography
three times since September 10, 2024, Narges Mohammadi's family said in
a statement on Thursday.
News Center- On Thursday, the family of Nobel Peace Prize laureate
Narges Mohammadi published a statement revealing that Narges Mohammadi
has been prevented from being transferred to the hospital to undergo
angiography three times since September 10 although she needs to undergo
angiography urgently. "In the past month, prison authorities have
prevented Narges Mohammadi from leaving prison to undergo angiography on
three separate occasions: September 10, September 17, and October 1,
2024," the statement said. "Based on the diagnosis and written orders
from a cardiologist on March 19, 2024, Narges was to be urgently
transferred to the hospital for angiography in June 2024. After more
than a month of delays, Narges was finally transferred to a hospital on
July 7, 2024. During this transfer, doctors observed a fatty bump in her
right breast, and a biopsy was performed immediately. Following the
procedure, Narges was returned to prison to await the biopsy results and
the specialists' diagnoses, which would determine whether breast surgery
or angiography should take priority. She would be sent back to the
hospital for further treatment afterward."
'Angiography should be performed immediately'
According to the doctors, angiography is deemed a priority and should be
performed immediately.
"Since then, Narges's lawyers, Mr. Mostafa Nili and Ms. Shadi Halimi,
have continuously followed up and made repeated visits to various legal
authorities, including the public prosecutor’s office, prison
administration, and prison medical staff. However, their efforts have
not produced any results regarding the requests and written orders from
specialists, nor have they addressed Narges's letters from inside the
prison concerning the angiography scheduled for September 10, September
17, and October 1." After the prison medical staff, health department,
and prison administration announced that the prosecutor's office had
granted permission for Narges's transfer to the hospital, "her exit from
prison was denied once again on the scheduled transfer day, October 1."
Call on human rights organizations to take immediate action
In the statement, her family urgently reiterates that the ongoing
preventions and objections from security and judicial authorities, along
with their lack of accountability regarding Narges's treatment and
medical care, are putting her health at grave risk and are deeply
alarming. "We implore human rights organizations to take immediate
action and follow up on this critical situation." >>

Read related a report by Amnesty International in April '22 and of which
it is today and more than ever proof again that the mulahs' regime is
denying medical care to imprisoned opponents as a method of torture in
their efforts to try and break them but... Narges Mohammadi, and with
her dozens of other more than brave heroes will never give up their
fight for a long and free Iran:
Amnesty International - April 12 , 2022
<<Deadly Denial of Medical Care in Iran's Prisons
The Iranian authorities are committing shocking violations of the right
to life by deliberately denying ailing prisoners lifesaving healthcare.
The deadly cruelty has involved both blocking or delaying prisoners'
access to emergency hospitalization, and denying prisoners access to
adequate healthcare throughout their imprisonment, which leads to
worsening health problems, inflicts additional pain and suffering on
sick prisoners, and ultimately results in preventable loss of life.
These violations of the right to life stem from an institutional culture
in Iran's prisons which has little regard for sanctity of human life and
the inherent dignity of prisoners and are facilitated by unchecked
powers granted to prison officials, amid a culture of impunity for
torture and other ill-treatment and other violations against prisoners.
Consistent with entrenched patterns of systematic impunity, the Iranian
authorities have refused to conduct any effective, prompt, thorough,
transparent and independent investigations into deaths in custody
following reports of deliberate and unlawful denial of medical care, let
alone ensure that those responsible are prosecuted and punished.
Building on its long-term findings on deliberate denial of access to
adequate healthcare in Iran's prisons, Amnesty International has
examined the circumstances surrounding the death in custody of 92 men
and four women across Iran since January 2010, as documented by the
organization or reported by independent human rights groups. The 96
cases reviewed are illustrative, rather than exhaustive since the true
number of deaths in custody is likely far higher. This is because human
rights violations in Iran often go unreported due to well-founded fears
of reprisals.
The list of cases excludes deaths in custody involving credible reports
of physical torture or the lethal use of firearms, which Amnesty
International addressed in a separate output in September 2021.>>

Maryam Sadat Yahyavi
NCRI - Womens committee - 27 Sept 2024 - in Women's News
<<Maryam Sadat Yahyavi: Over 50 Days Deprived of Contact with Her Family
Political prisoner Maryam Sadat Yahyavi has been deprived of her right
to phone calls with her family for over 50 days. This ban was imposed on
August 6, 2024, following the publication of a letter written by Maryam
in support of fellow political prisoner, Pakhshan Azizi. The prison
authorities, in response, ordered her to be cut off from phone contact.
During these 50 days, she has only been granted a single cabin visit at
the end of September. Maryam Sadat Yahyavi was previously arrested on
November 2, 2014, by Iranian security forces at her home. After the
interrogation period, she was released on bail. However, the
Revolutionary Court sentenced her to a total of 9 years in prison on
charges of <propaganda against the regime> and <assembly and collusion.>
This sentence was later reduced to one year in prison during the appeals
process.
On March 3, 2024, she was transferred to Evin Prison to begin serving
her sentence. The deprivation of phone calls and visits for female
political prisoners in Evin Prison escalated after two protests held by
these women in early August. The protests were in response to the death
sentence of Pakhshan Azizi and the execution of Reza Rasaei. On July 23
and August 6, 2024, the women prisoners in the women's ward of Evin held
protests, resulting in the authorities punishing 17 of them by cutting
off their phone contact and in-person visits for one to three months.
The names of the political prisoners involved in these protests include
Elaheh Fouladi, Pakhshan Azizi, Narges Mohammadi, Zahra Safaei, Maryam
Asadollahi, Azam Khezri Javadi, Sarina Jahani, Mahboubeh Rezaii,
Reyhaneh Ansari, Sakineh Parvaneh, Varisha Moradi, Golrokh Iraee,
Parivash Moslemi, Samaneh Asghari, Houra Nikbakht, Maryam Sadat Yahyavi,
and Sanaz Yekta.
Among these prisoners, Elaheh Fouladi has faced the harshest punishment.
Since August 17, 2023, she has been barred from any phone calls or
in-person visits for three months. Maryam Yahyavi was initially
sentenced to a one-month ban on phone calls, but this punishment has
been extended beyond its original term.
This article sheds light on the ongoing repression of women in Iranian
prisons and the resistance they continue to show, even in the face of
harsh and unjust punishments.>>

<<Iran Returns 80-Year-Old Baha'i Man to Prison After Six-Month
Suspension
Authorities in the Islamic Republic have returned an 80-year-old Baha'i
citizen to prison after a six-month suspension. Ataollah Zafar was
returned to Evin Prison on Wednesday following the temporary halt in his
imprisonment. Zafar was arrested on May 1, 2022, by security forces and
transferred from the Ministry of Intelligence's detention. In July 2023,
Tehran's Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Iman Afshari,
sentenced Zafar to five years in prison for <membership in illegal
groups aimed at disrupting national security,> according to HRANA human
rights news agency. The sentence was later reduced to two years by the
Tehran Court of Appeals. Baha'is in Iran continue to face systematic
persecution, with arrests, detentions, and legal pressures being part of
a broader campaign against the community. The Iranian government does
not recognize the Baha'i faith, and its followers have faced systematic
discrimination in the country for decades. Baha'is have been persecuted
in Iran because of their faith and are often accused of being spies or
opposing the Iranian government. The Baha'i International Community
states that no evidence has been provided to support these charges. The
Iranian government has intensified its crackdown on members of the
Baha'i faith, imprisoning dozens of them on spurious charges over the
past year, denying them access to higher education and livelihoods, and
confiscating or destroying their properties.>>

NCRI - Womens committee - 3 Oct 2024 - in Women's News
<<Another Woman Hanged in Qezel Hesar: 20 Women Executed in Iran in 2024
On the morning of Wednesday, October 2, 2024, seven prisoners, including
a woman, were hanged in Qezel Hesar Prison in Karaj. The identity of the
young woman, who had spent 8 years in prison on murder charges, is still
unknown. According to statistics compiled by the Women's Committee of
the National Council of Resistance of Iran, with the execution of this
woman in Qezel Hesar Prison, at least 249 women have been executed in
Iran since 2007. The number of women executed in Iran since the
beginning of 2024 has reached 20. Nine of these executions were carried
out during President Pezeshkian's term. The total number of executions
in Iran in 2024 has exceeded 500, so far. The average number of women
executed each year was 15, but this figure rose to 21 during Raisi's
presidency. Now, with still three months remaining in the year, the
number of women executed has reached 20.
Record holder of executions of women
The Iranian regime is the world's top record holder of executions of
women.
No government in the world has executed so many women. The list does not
account for the tens of thousands of women executed in Iran on political
grounds. The NCRI Women's Committee previously mentioned that many of
the women executed by the mullahs' regime are themselves victims of
domestic violence against women and have acted in self-defense. An
average of 15 women were executed every year under the former government
in Iran. However, 26 women were executed under Raisi government in 2023,
which is 11 more than the previous average. The NCRI Women's Committee
calls on the United Nations, the European Union, and other relevant
international organizations to take urgent action to save the lives of
those on death row and stop the use of death penalty in Iran.>>

Valiollah Ghadamian
Hengaw Organisation for Human Right - Oct 3, 2024
<<Iranian Authorities Obstruct Medical Care for Baha'i Activist
Valiollah Ghadamian
Valiollah Ghadamian, a Baha'i prisoner currently serving his sentence in
Evin Prison, is in critical health condition. Despite the severity of
his illness, authorities are obstructing his access to necessary medical
treatment, leaving him without proper care. Ghadamian, who has been
detained for 17 months, continues to be deprived of his right to medical
leave. According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for
Human Rights, 67-year-old Valiollah Ghadamian, a Baha'i resident of
Tehran, is serving a two-year sentence in Evin Prison and suffers from a
severe lung condition that requires immediate medical attention. A
source close to Ghadamian's family reported that he was scheduled to be
transferred to a hospital on Monday, September 30, 2024, but the
transfer was delayed by a day due to administrative negligence. The
source further explained that when Ghadamian was eventually taken to the
hospital in handcuffs and shackles, he was returned to prison without
receiving the necessary consultation with a lung specialist. Instead, he
was seen by an internal medicine doctor, and further examination of his
condition was postponed. On Wednesday, Ghadamian was again denied proper
treatment as the required anesthesia for a bronchoscopy and consultation
with a cardiologist were unavailable. As a result, he was sent back to
prison without receiving the care he urgently needs. It is worth noting
that Ghadamian was initially sentenced to five years in prison by Branch
26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Iman
Afshari, on charges of <membership in illegal groups and organizations.>
His sentence was later reduced to two years by the Tehran Court of
Appeals in mid-October last year. Ghadamian was arrested on May 1, 2023,
for assisting with the burial of deceased Baha’i individuals in a Baha’i
cemetery in Tehran. Despite his deteriorating health, he has been
consistently denied medical leave since his detention.>>

Tariq Nazari
Hengaw Organisation for Human Right - Oct 3, 2024
<<Nowsud Border: A Kolbar Killed by Direct Fire from Iranian Border
Guards
A Kolbar named Tariq Nazari, the father of three children, was killed by
direct gunfire from the Iranian Border Guards at the Nowsud border.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human
Rights, on the evening of Wednesday, October 2, 2024, border forces
stationed at the Nowsud border opened fire on a group of Kolbars. As a
result of this direct shooting, Tariq Nazari, from Salas Babajani County
and a resident of Javanroud, Kermanshah province, was killed. Hengaw has
learned that Nazari was severely injured by gunfire and, after being
transferred to Quds Hospital in the city of Paveh, succumbed to the
severity of his injuries. It is worth noting that Tariq Nazari was
married and the father of three children.>>

Sakineh Parvaneh
Hengaw Organisation for Human Right - Oct 2, 2024
<<Evin Prison: Sakineh Parvaneh Denied Contact Following Hunger Strike
on the Anniversary of Jina Amini's State-Sponsored Killing
Sakineh Parvaneh, a Kurdish political prisoner from Quchan, has been
denied the right to contact her family for three weeks following her
declaration of a hunger strike in Evin Prison, Tehran. She went on a
three-day hunger strike in protest of the killing of protesters during
the "Woman, Life, Freedom" movement. According to a report received by
the Hengaw Organization for Hunan Rights, Sakineh Parvaneh, a Kurdish
political prisoner from Quchan in Khorasan Razavi Province, has been
prohibited from making calls and receiving visits for the past 18 days
in Evin Prison, raising serious concerns among her relatives and family.
Sources state that since September 14, 2024, Sakineh Parvaneh has been
denied contact by order of Iranian judicial and security authorities. On
September 13, she announced that on September 14 and 15, she would go on
a hunger strike in protest of the killing of protesters during the
"Woman, Life, Freedom" movement and in solidarity with the families of
victims. Previously, she also went on a three-day hunger strike on
Tuesday, January 30, 2024, in protest of the execution of four Kurdish
political prisoners: Vafa Azarbar, Mohsen Mazloum, Pejman Fatehi, and
Mohammad Faramarzi. On Wednesday, April 3, 2024, Sakineh Parvaneh was
suddenly transferred from Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad to the women's
ward of Evin Prison in Tehran, coinciding with the anniversary of her
arrest. She was initially arrested on April 3, 2023, after being
summoned by the IRGC intelligence in Mashhad and transferred to Ward 5
of Mashhad Prison on April 14. In early September 2023, without the
right to legal representation, she was sentenced to seven years and six
months in prison by the First Branch of the Iranian Islamic
Revolutionary Court of Mashhad. On March 6, 2023, she was arrested in
Tehran by Iranian government forces and released four days later. Since
about four years ago, IRGC has confiscated all of Sakineh Parvaneh's
identification documents, and despite her release, these documents have
not been returned. This has caused her significant difficulties in
managing basic life tasks such as renting a house, finding work, and
purchasing a mobile SIM card. On May 17, 2020, Sakineh Parvaneh was
sentenced by Branch 26 of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Court of
Tehran to five years in prison and a two-year ban from participating in
political groups. She was pardoned and released from Evin Prison in
Tehran on March 1, 2023.>>
