April 7, 2024
Preface by G. d'A. - Very often if not always the task of an investigative journalist is to put pieces of a puzzle together to get a total picture. Now, I admit that sometimes if not often I'm blurred by my non-objectivity and when the reason is clear to me and called 'humanity' meaning I always allow myself to be led by it and I daresay 'universal drive' i.e. to serve it always. Hence my method of reporting meaning always putting together pieces to one clear picture, leaving it to the reader to decide what to do with it. Having said that and now and kind of analyzing the situation as is in Gaza I take the liberty to put facts together:
the immense suffering of the Gazaian/Palestinian population, children and mothers first as always is fact in times of war and no matter who started it, but, however and fact is that when one puts together 1 +1 and in this case = netanyahu who is interested in one thing only and no not to asap finish off Hamas but to safe his political skin. And this without any shame about the so-called 'collateral damage'. Now according to Jewish teachings, hell is not entirely physical; rather, it can be compared to a very intense feeling of shame. People are ashamed of their misdeeds and this constitutes suffering which makes up for the bad deeds. When one has thus and is so deviated from the will of God, one is said to be in Gehinnom. And since netanyahu is without shame he is The perfect example of a Gehinnom.
And before I forget and something that has not been in the news: netanyahu is about to undergo a hernia-operation meaning if it is not succesfull he'll need to learn to walk again. Will somebody borrow him crutches? I doubt it. And speaking of religion: the Quran says very clearly: |Repossessing the land (Palestine) that was lost is equated with the will of Allah, who is believed to have granted the land as an inheritance to Muslims untill the Day of ....| In this Allah has 2 plans i.e. questions for israel, one already asked during and after WW2 and answered by the occupation of Palestina by israel and its Western allies and the second question asked now. What this question is is only for netanyahu and the israelis and their allies to answer but... it sure gives food for thought for the 'outsider' i.e. the peace-loving and needing people.

The actual news:

France 24 - April 7, 2024
<<Live: Gaza war enters seventh month as US, Israeli and Hamas truce negotiators expected in Cairo
The war between Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas entered its seventh month on Sunday as US, Israeli and Hamas negotiators were expected to join Egyptian mediators in Cairo in a renewed push for a ceasefire and hostage release deal. Read our live blog for the latest updates on the Israel-Hamas war. A woman looks at cleaning products sold on a stand set up in front of a building destroyed in Israeli strikes in Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip on Egypt's Al-Qahera news reported Saturday that CIA director Bill Burns and Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani would join Egyptian officials for indirect talks from Sunday between Israeli and Hamas delegations. Hamas said Saturday that a delegation headed by the Palestinian militant group's deputy chief in Gaza, Khalil Al-Hayya, would go to Cairo on Sunday for the ceasefire talks. The Israeli military's killing of seven aid workers in Gaza has triggered unprecedented criticism from European leaders, who are stepping up calls for a ceasefire and in some cases halting arms sales to Israel as the war's toll mounts. At least 33,175 Palestinians have been killed and 75,886 wounded since Israel began its offensive on Gaza, according to the health ministry in the Hamas-run enclave. Around 1,170 people were killed in the Hamas-led October 7 attacks and 250 people taken hostage, according to Israeli figures, with 132 still missing.
Yesterday's key developments:
Tens of thousands of Israelis took to the streets of Tel Aviv and other cities on Saturday to protest against Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and call for new elections. Israeli President Isaac Herzog, whose post is largely ceremonial, said on Saturday that Israel was approaching the half-year mark in a <bloody and difficult war>. Israel's army said on Saturday its troops recovered the body of a hostage abducted by Palestinian militants during the October 7 attacks on southern Israel. <The body of the abductee Elad Katzir ... was rescued overnight from Khan Younis and returned to Israeli territory>, the army said in a statement. Australia's Foreign Minister Penny Wong said Saturday that information from Israel about the death of an Australian aid worker killed in a Gaza air strike was <not sufficient>.
(FRANCE 24 with AFP, AP & Reuters)
About casualty figures from Gaza's Hamas-run health ministry:
Gaza's health ministry collects data from the enclave's hospitals and the Palestinian Red Crescent. The health ministry does not report how Palestinians were killed, whether from Israeli airstrikes and artillery barrages or errant Palestinian rocket fire. It describes all casualties as victims of <Israeli aggression>. The ministry also does not distinguish between civilians and combatants. Throughout four wars and numerous skirmishes between Israel and Hamas, UN agencies have cited the Hamas-run health ministry's death tolls in regular reports. The International Committee of the Red Cross and Palestinian Red Crescent also use the numbers. In the aftermath of war, the UN humanitarian office has published final death tolls based on its own research into medical records. The UN's counts have largely been consistent with the Gaza health ministry's, with small discrepancies.

Iranwire - 4 April 2024
<<All Hands on Deck for Israeli Forces Amid Iran's Retaliation Threat
The Israeli military stopped allowing leave for combat units on Thursday due to worries about a potential retaliatory attack by Iran after an airstrike in Damascus killed Iranian generals. <In accordance with the situational assessment, it has been decided that leave will be temporarily paused for all IDF (Israel Defence Forces) combat units,> the military said in a statement. <The IDF is at war and the deployment of forces is under continuous assessment according to requirements,> it said. On Wednesday, the military announced it had called up reservists to strengthen aerial defenses.
Iran has vowed retaliation for the deaths of two generals and five military advisers in an airstrike on an Iranian diplomatic site in Damascus on Monday. The attack, believed to be Israeli but not confirmed, is seen as a major strike on Iranian targets in Syria, raising regional tensions. Iran's network of proxies in the region, known as <the axis of resistance,> has engaged in skirmishes with Israel and launched attacks on US forces and bases across the Middle East since October. These actions have heightened concerns of a broader regional conflict.>>

Opinion by Gino d'Artali: As they say in 'the Lowlands': "Let's name a cat a cat" meaning that what is meant by saying <the axis of resistance,> is nothing less than 'the axis of the dictators raisi, erdogan, saddat and other pure evil 'non-humans'.

Mohammad Sukkar arrived in Deir el-Balah battered, wounded and exhausted after his ordeal with Israeli forces
Footage: Abdelhakim Abu Riash-Al Jazeera
Al Jazeera - April 1, 2024 - by Maram Humaid
As those fleeing al-Shifa get to south Gaza, they recount Israeli torture
Two people, one who was in the besieged hospital and one who lived nearby, tell of their ordeal to escape.
Deir el-Balah, Gaza - Mohammad Sukkar is safe now – or safer – but even as the team at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir el-Balah work to help him, his eyes fill with tears as he recounts his experience in al-Shifa Hospital. The 27-year-old man fled south, wounded and stripped of his clothes, after days of siege and then detention by the Israeli army in the Shifa complex, along with dozens of other people. <I had been displaced from al-Shujayea east of Gaza, which was destroyed and I was volunteering at the hospital after being displaced,> Sukkar told Al Jazeera, lying on a makeshift pallet fashioned out of some rough grey blankets on the floor. <Late on a Monday ... there was intense gunfire as Israeli tanks advanced towards the hospital,> he said. <We didn't know what was going on. The Israeli army ordered us via loudspeakers to stay inside the complex buildings and not move at all.> Sukkar and dozens of other displaced people - many of them families with children - were trapped, along with sick people, for four agonising days in a Shifa building. <We had no water or food. We were starving, and so afraid of the artillery shelling. All we could hear was the army booming through loudspeakers, shooting people and burning buildings around us,> he said.
<We didn't even think of going outside.>
'Waving white flags'
As the siege continued and thirst took hold, some of the trapped people decided to venture out, waving white flags. <We gathered - men, women, children, and the elderly - waving white flags and advancing cautiously,> Sukkar recalled. <The army opened fire, forcing us to beg for safe passage, telling them we wanted to get out as we were starving and there was no water. The soldiers insisted we return to the building but then, minutes later, they called out that all the men should stay and line up and the women should gather and head south. The soldiers made the men strip and hold their hands above their heads as they handcuffed and blindfolded them. For four days, we were shackled in the cold in the hospital courtyard without food or water,> he said, pausing as a medic came by and administered some medication to him. <If we asked for anything, the soldiers shouted at us, kicked us with their boots, spat at us, and insulted us with the most horrific words,> Sukkar continued. Eventually, the soldiers released some of the detainees, ordering them to go south - without their clothes or belongings. <We started walking towards al-Rashid Street. I was with five young detainees and we were all shivering from cold and fear. The roads were full of tanks and soldiers, bodies on the ground - but we kept walking, our hands raised above our heads. When we reached an Israeli checkpoint, the soldiers stopped us, let the others pass but arrested me,> Sukkar said. <I tried to ask where they were taking me, but they beat me. There were about 10 soldiers, all of whom were kicking me and using metal bars to hit me all over.> After attacking him, the soldiers told Sukkar to go, but he had been beaten so hard he was not able to walk. So they loaded him into a military jeep and threw him out near the checkpoint. <My hands and feet were very painful and bleeding. I was crawling until a passer-by saw me, gave me first aid, and took me to the hospital.>
'Extreme terror'
Arriving at the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in an ambulance was Mohammad Marshoud, a thin, subdued 25-year-old man with a clump of soiled medical cotton taped to one side of his head. He was injured when Israeli forces shelled his family's home in the vicinity of the al-Shifa Hospital, where he was staying with 15 family members, including his elderly parents, his sisters, their children and some cousins. After an ordeal that lasted days, Marshoud was able to walk to the south with his cousin, both of them badly injured and stripped of all their clothing. He does not know the fate of any of the rest of his family. It was only when emergency response teams found them that they were able to give them blue plastic gowns to protect them from the cold a bit. <We were sleeping when we were surprised by the Israeli tanks,> Marshoud said of the day the siege began around al-Shifa. <We got ready to flee but when I opened the door, there were tanks on our doorstep.Everyone was in extreme terror. We cowered in a small corridor, unable to move with all the shooting. The children were crying and the women screaming in fear. We were sure we'd all die.> Artillery shells exploded in the house, wounding Marshoud, his cousin, and his elderly father, all of whom were hit by shrapnel in the head and back. <We weren't able to call an ambulance. We crawled around to grab bits of clothing or medical gauze from here and there in the house so we could stop our wounds bleeding,> said Marshoud, who works as a nurse. Israeli soldiers stormed the house and arrested all the men, including Marshoud's father, who is 70. <I had prepared for this moment, wrote a sign in English for the children to hold; it said: We are civilians and children only. Please help us,> Marshoud said.
<But they didn't care, they just arrested the men and ordered us to strip.>
The soldiers took Marshoud, his father, and his cousin to a nearby building where they had detained other men. <Our wounds were still bleeding. The place was full of broken stones and they made us sleep on them,> he said. <They beat us severely, pulled out my chest hair and tortured me. They wouldn't let us go to the toilet ... some of the people there wet themselves.> After five days of detention, Marshoud and his cousin were released and ordered to go south. <There were so many tanks. Quadcopters were hovering above us, bodies all over the roads.> <All I can think about is my family ... I can't contact them, I don't know where they are.>

THIS IS HOW HUNGER LOOKS LIKE
Al Jazeera - March 26, 2024 - by Maram Humaid, Abdelhakim Abu Riash and Alia Chughtai
<<They scream in hunger. How Israel is starving Palestinians in Gaza.
Maysoon al-Nabahin squeezes out the last bit of cartoned cheese onto a freshly baked piece of bread, knowing it will be the only thing her family of eight will eat that day. Umm Muhammed, as she's known, fled from a school in Bureij where she, together with her husband and six children, were sheltering after Israeli forces destroyed their home in east Bureij in central Gaza. The 45-year-old now lives in the crowd of tents around Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir el-Balah further south. She's a petite woman, her face etched with worry, looking older than her years. In the centre of their plastic makeshift tent is a small fire where Umm Muhammed is making flatbread on a woodfire saj oven. She's surrounded by a few neatly arranged backpacks containing the belongings her family managed to bring, as well as a pile of blankets, now cleared away to make space for their daytime living.>>
