April 10, 2024 - Preface of Gino d'Artali: since days there is a kind of
'radio-silence' about the israeli genocidal war against the Gazaians. As
if and israels' alliens and the international press is in awaiting the 'armageddon
day' strikes in Rafah and from there on will pick up 'the pieces' and
simply carry on as if it'll be 'just another day in the office'. But...
one does not have to be a re-surrection of Nostradamus to know that that
day could lead to WW3, may all peace-loving Gods forbid. Still and I can

<<Israel-Gaza latest: Biden says Netanyahu making 'a mistake' on Gaza
The US president has said he disagrees with Israel's approach to the
war. It comes after Benjamin Netanyahu doubled down on his pledge to go
forward with his invasion of Rafah. Listen to a Daily episode on how the
war could be worsening Yemen's humanitarian crisis as you scroll. Antony
Blinken says Israel has not informed the US of any specific date for a
major offensive into the southern Gaza city of Rafah. Israel has said
for weeks it will launch an incursion into Rafah, which it says is the
last stronghold of Hamas. But even its closest allies, including the US,
have urged against an offensive and warned it will cause a large number
of civilian casualties. The US secretary of state said American and
Israeli officials were in close contact to try to ensure <any kind of
major military operation doesn't do real harm to civilians>.
Iranian journalist 'lost a lot of blood' in stabbing outside home in
suspected 'state-sponsored attack'
An Iranian journalist has described the moment he was stabbed outside
his home in what he believes was a state-sponsored attack. Pouria
Zeraati, a 36-year-old presenter at London-based broadcaster Iran
International, was attacked by three unknown assailants in Wimbledon on
29 March. In his first live interview, Mr Zeraati told Sky News' The
World With Yalda Hakim he <lost a lot of blood> in the stabbing.
He said he was walking towards his car when a man came up to him and
asked for £3 in cash. When Mr Zeraati replied that he did not have any
change a second man approached and <grabbed me from the front very
firmly>. At that point, he said the first person <stabbed me in the leg,
the back side of my leg in my thigh, and very fast they ran away>. The
journalist said at first he thought he had been robbed, but then
realised he still had his phone, watch and wallet - and instead believed
the attack may have been something to do with his job. Mr Zeraati said
he thought the men were trying to harm rather than kill him. He said:
<Because [of] the way they were holding me, and then they stabbed me in
my leg - they could stab anywhere in my body. They could stab in my
neck, they could stab in my heart. There are places specifically that
people [aim for to] make sure the target is dead.>
The Metropolitan Police said no arrests have yet been made.
The force said it is confident the three suspects <do not present a risk
to communities of London or the UK,> as detectives believe they fled the
country via Heathrow Airport within hours of the stabbing. Mr Zeraati
said: <It looks like a state-sponsored attack, but we need to wait for
more investigation results to come out>.
Netanyahu 'only interested in his own survival', Pelosi says Former US
House speaker Nancy Pelosi has accused Israel's prime minister of only
being concerned with his own political survival. Speaking to former
Barack Obama aide David Axelrod's podcast, she said: <I've said this to
Netanyahu over the years: 'I don't know whether you don't know how to
make peace, you don't want to make peace, or you're afraid of peace.
<But you could be doing so much more instead of just throwing red meat
to [the] crowd, which is what he did.> She also references Mr
Netanyahu's family background, which is likely a nod to his father,
Benzion Netanyahu, whose hawkish views and expertise on antisemitic
genocide are said to have shaped the prime minister's hardline approach.
Ms Pelosi added: <No, I think he's interested in one thing, his own
survival, and that's it.> Similar comments were made by our security and
defence analyst Michael Clarke, who said Mr Netanyahu is continuing to
proclaim Israel will launch an offensive on Rafah because he is being
pressured to do so by cabinet members who have the ability to bring his
government down.
Israel will retaliate if Iran attacks from its territory, foreign
minister warns. Israeli foreign minister Israel Katz has responded after
Iran said Israel <must be punished> for an apparent attack on its
consulate building in Syria. Earlier, Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah
Ali Khamenei said the <evil regime> of Israel <shall be> punished for
the deadly attack, which Israel has not commented on. In a post to X
addressing Mr Ali Khamenei, Mr Katz said: <If Iran attacks from its own
territory, Israel will respond and attack in Iran.> Eyewitness: Yemeni
fishermen face threat of Houthi attack - but on Gaza they are firmly
behind the militants
By Alex Crawford, special correspondent
Yemen's fishermen set out at dawn to take on seas where they know they
could face pirates, smugglers, and now Houthi militant missile attacks.
<We're always scared,> Awad tells us as he sits on the edge of the
wooden fishing boat. <Because you don't know when you will be attacked.>
The Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden have become the new battleground in the
spreading war in Gaza.
Houthi missiles targeting international shipping routes have caused
havoc to global trade, forced food prices up and brought heightened
misery to the Yemenis who rely on the waters for their livelihoods.
Fisherman Naeem Hamoudy said the war affects their work <100%> - but
they <will be with Gaza until we die>. 'We are Arabs and our blood is
one': Yemeni fishermen face threat of Houthi attack - but on Gaza they
are firmly behind the militants
Muslims mark end of Ramadan in Jerusalem
Muslims have performed Eid al Fitr prayers in Jerusalem to mark the end
of the fasting month of Ramadan.
Israel 'must be punished' for Iranian consulate 'attack', says supreme
leader. Iran's supreme leader says Israel <must be punished> for an
apparent attack on an Iranian consulate building in Syria. Tehran has
blamed Israel for the airstrike in the Syrian capital of Damascus last
week which killed two of its senior military commanders. <The evil
regime made a mistake and must be punished and it shall be,> Supreme
Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said during a speech to mark the end of
the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. Israel has not commented on the
strike. Earlier this week, Iran's foreign minister accused the US of
giving Israel the <green light> to target the consulate building - an
accusation denied by Washington.
Biden says Netanyahu's approach in Gaza 'a mistake' and Israel should
'just call for' ceasefire. Joe Biden disagrees with Benjamin Netanyahu's
handling of the war in Gaza and has called it a <mistake>. <I think what
he's doing is a mistake. I don't agree with his approach,> the US
president told Univision, a US Spanish-language TV network. It's not the
first time Mr Biden has been critical of the Israeli prime minister,
having previously called Israel's military bombing campaign
<indiscriminate> and its military operation <over the top.>
Last week, the White House said Mr Biden told Mr Netanyahu future US
support for the war dependent on steps it takes to prevent civilian
harm. He also said during their phone call that an >immediate ceasefire>
was needed to improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza. <What I'm
calling for is for the Israelis to just call for a ceasefire, allow for
the next six, eight weeks, total access to all food and medicine going
into the country,> Mr Biden said in comments to Univision.>>

<<Blinken says no indication of 'imminent' Israeli attack on Rafah
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Tuesday he doubted Israel
would attack Rafah before new talks next week in Washington, which has
raised concerns over an assault on the packed Gaza city. Earlier, Prime
Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said Israel would complete the elimination
of Hamas's brigades, including in Rafah, and that nothing will prevent
this. Read our liveblog on the Israel-Hamas war to see how the day's
events unfolded.

the southern Gaza Strip. Palestinians traverse along a street near
damaged buildings in Khan Younis on April 7, 2024, after Israel withdrew
its ground forces from the southern Gaza Strip, six months into the
devastating war sparked by the October 7 attacks. AFP
Summary:
Israel will complete the elimination of Hamas's brigades, including in
the southern Gaza city of Rafah, and nothing will prevent this, Prime
Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Tuesday. Hamas said Tuesday it was
considering a new truce proposal as the latest round of negotiations in
Cairo continued but said the plan did not meet any of its demands.
Israel for the first time deployed its C-Dome ship-mounted defence
system against a <suspicious> target that entered the country's airspace
near the southern city of Eilat, the military said. Turkey announced
restrictions on exports to Israel until a ceasefire in Gaza, Ankara's
first significant measure against Israel after six months of war. Israel
said it would respond with its own restrictions on products from Turkey.
Netanyahu said Monday that a date has been set for an Israeli invasion
of Rafah, where some 1.5 million Palestinians have taken shelter. The US
has warned a ground operation in Rafah would be a mistake. At least
33,360 Palestinians have been killed and 75,933 wounded since Israel
began its offensive on Gaza, according to the health ministry in the
Hamas-run enclave. Around 1,170 people were killed in the Hamas-led
October 7 attacks and 250 people taken hostage, according to Israeli
figures, with 132 still missing.
Yesterday's key developments:
The Israeli military on said it killed a Hezbollah commander in an
overnight air strike in southern Lebanon. A Lebanese security source
said a <local commander> from Hezbollah's Radwan unit was killed in an
Israeli strike. Israel on Sunday pulled its troops out of southern Gaza,
including the city of Khan Younis, the military said. Defence Minister
Yoav Gallant said troops were pulled out <to prepare for future
missions, including ... in Rafah>.
The leaders of France, Egypt and Jordan warned Israel on Monday against
launching a threatened offensive against the southern Gaza city of Rafah,
urging an <immediate> ceasefire in its war on Hamas. Preliminary
hearings open Monday at the UN top court in a case filed by Nicaragua
that seeks an end to German military and other aid to Israel, based on
claims that Berlin is <facilitating> acts of genocide and breaches of
international law.>>

<<'There is a date': Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vows
Rafah invasion will go ahead
Mr Netanyahu has repeatedly said Israel must send ground forces into the
city, which he says is Hamas' final stronghold. It comes as the group
rejected the latest Israeli ceasefire proposal. Israel's prime minister
has reiterated his vow to invade the city of Rafah in southern Gaza and
declared: <There is a date.> Benjamin Netanyahu has repeatedly said
Israel must send ground forces into the city, which he says is Hamas'
last stronghold in the besieged enclave. It comes as Hamas rejected the
latest Israeli ceasefire proposal, after an official said no progress
had been made in negotiations over the weekend in Cairo, Egypt. <There
is no change in the position of the occupation [Israel] and therefore,
there is nothing new in the Cairo talks,> the Hamas official, who asked
not to be identified, told the news agency Reuters.
Middle East latest: Hamas rejects latest ceasefire proposal
The international community has opposed an invasion of Rafah, arguing
the roughly 1.4 million civilians who have sought shelter there will be
in danger. Israel has insisted it has a plan to protect the civilians.
On Monday, Mr Netanyahu said he had received a detailed report on the
talks in Cairo. However, he said the Rafah operation was essential for
an Israeli victory. <We are constantly working to achieve our goals,
first and foremost the release of all our hostages and achieving a
complete victory over Hamas,> he said in a video statement. <This
victory requires entry into Rafah and the elimination of the terrorist
battalions there. It will happen - there is a date,> he added without
elaborating.
'Nothing will stop' Rafah operation
The US, Israel's closest ally, has said invading Rafah would be a
mistake and has demanded to see a credible plan to protect civilians.
Israel is purchasing 40,000 tents to prepare for the evacuation, an
Israeli official told the Associated Press. Some 33,207 Palestinians
have been killed during six months of conflict, Gaza's Hamas-run health
ministry said in an update on Monday. Its figures do not distinguish
between fighters and civilians.
The war erupted after Hamas killed 1,200 people in southern Israel in a
cross-border attack on 7 October.
The Israeli army says over 600 of its soldiers have been killed in
combat since then.>>

Israeli airstrikes on building in Maghazi refugee

<<Israeli airstrikes on building in Maghazi refugee camp kill at least 5
Israeli airstrikes on a building in Gaza's Maghazi refugee camp killed
at least five Palestinians, including Hatem al-Ghamri, the mayor of the
camp, on Monday evening.
News Center- The Gaza Media Office has released a statement on Israeli
airstrikes targeting a building in Gaza’s Maghazi refugee camp on Monday
evening. At least five Palestinians, including Hatem al-Ghamri, the
mayor of the camp, were killed and many others injured in the Israeli
airstrikes, the statement said. The statement described the airstrikes
as an assassination against Maghazi's mayor Ghamri and a group of
civilians, emphasizing that the airstrikes violated international law
and constituted a new episode of Israel's deliberate and pre-planned
crimes against the Palestinian people.
'Israel aims to cause chaos'
The statement indicated that the killing of Maghazi's mayor was as part
of Israel's <Genocidal war> against civilians in the Gaza Strip. <Israel
has deliberately targeted civilians to cause chaos and deepen the
humanitarian crisis.>
Put pressure on Israel
The statement urged governments to put pressure on Israel to stop its
ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people and prosecute Israel
according to international laws for its crimes against humanity.>>

<<Israel-Hamas: Key element in path to peace still missing six months on
from start of war
When it comes, what will the 'day after' look like? It remains
distinctly unclear and is a profound political failure. As we mark six
months of the most brutal of conflicts in Gaza, a few thoughts. First,
we're at the end of the most consequential of weeks in this bloody
six-month period.
I say it with a great deal of hesitation and perhaps some naivety (given
how many moments for hope have come and gone) but maybe there is a
little sense of momentum right now. After the killing of foreign aid
workers, it's been a week in which American influence seemed finally to
have a humanitarian impact. After a call between President Biden and
Prime Minister Netanyahu, the Israeli government announced it would open
Ashdod port for the delivery of aid. It also said a key northern border
crossing to Gaza, Erez, would open. Then came the announcement that
Israeli troops would pull out of southern Gaza, leaving just one
battalion inside the strip.>>

<<Israel withdraws almost all troops from southern Gaza
Israel's defence minister Yoav Gallant says troops had been pulled out
to prepare for future missions, including in Gaza's southern city of
Rafah.
Only one brigade remains in Khan Younis and is tasked with securing the
Netzarim corridor that divides the Gaza Strip, according to The Times of
Israel. The move came six months since Hamas launched the October 7
attacks on Israel, which left more than 1,100 people dead. It was the
trigger for Israel's ongoing military action in Gaza, which has resulted
in the deaths of more than 33,000 Palestinians, according to the
territory's Hamas-run health authority.
War latest: Israel explains why troops withdrawn from southern Gaza
The withdrawal of troops is linked to ongoing negotiations with Hamas
over Israeli hostages and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is
<desperate> for a ceasefire deal, a senior source in the Israeli
government told Sky's Middle East correspondent Alistair Bunkall.
The killings of seven aid workers in Gaza in an Israeli airstrike
<changed everything>, the source added. Israel's defence minister Yoav
Gallant said troops had been pulled out of Gaza on Sunday to prepare for
future missions, including in the enclave's southern city of Rafah. <We
saw examples of such missions in the Shifa operation, and also of their
coming mission in the Rafah area,> Mr Gallant said at a meeting with
military officials, according to a statement from his office. The
withdrawal of Israeli forces is a significant moment in this war, but it
might be too early to assess how significant. Officially, it is to give
troops time to recuperate after months of heavy fighting, although that
doesn't explain why they haven't just been replaced. Israeli officials
are also saying operations in Khan Younis are over and there is nothing
left to do. That's not entirely true, as some rockets were fired out of
the city towards Israel hours after the soldiers left. Although some
forces will remain, predominantly patrolling the east-west corridor that
divides the strip, withdrawing from Khan Younis concedes ground and
surely makes a large-scale land invasion of Rafah unlikely, at least in
the short term.
Six months of war in Gaza
Israel had planned a ground invasion of the southern city of Rafah,
claiming it is a hive of Hamas's remaining strongholds. More than half
of Gaza's 2.3 million population are taking refuge in the city.
Following the withdrawal of the troops, Israeli government spokesperson
Avi Hyman told Sky News Mr Netanyahu would <absolutely> go ahead with a
ground invasion of Rafah. <If we don't go ahead with Rafah, we lose the
war,> he said.
Israeli embassies 'unsafe'
Meanwhile, an Iranian official says no Israeli embassy is safe after a
suspected Israeli strike on the Iran consulate in Damascus. Twenty-eight
Israeli embassies around the world temporarily closed on Friday due to
fears of reprisal from Iran, the official said. US officials said on
Friday they were on high alert about the possibility of a significant
Iranian strike on targets inside Israel.>>

<<Live: Gaza talks in Cairo make 'significant progress' as Rafah
prepares for Israeli offensive
Talks in Cairo aimed at brokering a truce between Israel and Hamas in
the Gaza Strip have made <significant progress>, Egyptian outlet Al-Qahera
reported Monday. The news comes a day after Israel pulled its troops out
of parts of southern Gaza to regroup for future offensives, including in
Rafah. According to reports from the Egyptian news outlet Al-Qahera on
Monday, talks in Cairo aimed at brokering a truce between Israel and
Hamas in the Gaza Strip have made <significant progress>. Israel on
Sunday pulled its troops out of southern Gaza, including the city of
Khan Younis, the military said. Defence Minister Yoav Gallant said
troops were pulled out <to prepare for future missions, including ... in
Rafah>. Preliminary hearings open Monday at the UN top court in a case
filed by Nicaragua that seeks an end to German military and other aid to
Israel, based on claims that Berlin is <facilitating> acts of genocide
and breaches of international law. Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu
said Israel was just <one step away from victory> in Gaza, adding that
he would not agree to a ceasefire <without the return of hostages>
during a cabinet address on Sunday. At least 33,175 Palestinians have
been killed and 75,886 wounded since Israel began its offensive on Gaza,
according to the health ministry in the Hamas-run enclave. Around 1,170
people were killed in the Hamas-led October 7 attacks and 250 people
taken hostage, according to Israeli figures, with 132 still missing.
Yesterday's key developments:
CIA director Bill Burns and Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin
Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani met with Egyptian officials for indirect
talks on Sunday between Israeli and Hamas delegations. The Israeli
military's killing of seven aid workers in Gaza has triggered
unprecedented criticism from European leaders, who are stepping up calls
for a ceasefire and in some cases halting arms sales to Israel as the
war's toll mounts. Iraq agreed on Sunday to send 10 million litres of
fuel to the Gaza Strip in support of the Palestinian people, Prime
Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani said.
Thousands gathered on Sunday in front of Israel's parliament to demand
the return of the hostages abducted by Hamas militants in Gaza exactly
six months ago. World Central Kitchen founder Jose Andres raised
questions Sunday over the Israeli probe into a strike that killed seven
of his staff in Gaza, and warned that the conflict had become a <war
against humanity itself>.
