Kamal Lotfi
Hengaw Organisation for Human Right - 22 April 2024
<<The Unknown Custodial Status of Father of Reza Lotfi, Slain Protester
After Two Weeks of Detention
Kamal Lotfi, a member of a grieving family and the father of Reza Lotfi,
who was killed during the Woman, Life, Freedom movement, remains
detained after two weeks despite suffering from psoriasis. His uncertain
condition is causing significant distress to his family, who are deeply
concerned about his health. According to a report received by the Hengaw
Organization for Human Rights, Kamal Lotfi has been in detention for two
weeks, yet there is still no information available about his custodial
status, despite continuous efforts by his family to obtain information.
Lotfi, who was previously detained last year and suffered from psoriasis
while in Kamyaran Central Prison, was deprived of access to necessary
medical care outside the prison, leading to a deterioration of his
condition. A source close to the Lotfi family revealed to Hengaw that
despite medical experts in Hamedan and Sanandaj recommending urgent
medical attention for Lotfi and expressing concerns about his ability to
tolerate imprisonment, he has been detained again by security forces,
with no information about his condition provided after two weeks,
causing significant worry for his family regarding his health. In a
recent report by Hengaw, it was revealed that Kamal Lotfi has been
sentenced to five years in prison by Branch 102 of the Criminal Court of
Dehgolan for various charges, including propaganda against the
government and insulting the Supreme Leader and the founder of the
Islamic Republic of Iran. With the application of Article 510 of the
Criminal Procedure Code (Law on the Consolidation of Sentences), the
most severe sentence for Lotfi, who was recently detained, will be
equivalent to two years of enforceable imprisonment. Kamal Lotfi, a
46-year-old father from Dehgolan, was re-detained on Tuesday, April 9,
2024, after appearing for the second time at the Revolutionary Court of
Qorveh. His son, Reza Lotfi, was shot dead by Iranian police special
forces during the Woman, Life, Freedom movement on September 19, 2022.
Hengaw previously highlighted the pressure imposed on Kamal Lotfi by
government authorities following his son's killing. In response to
government propaganda claiming that his son was killed by
<anti-revolutionaries> (a term used for Kurdish opposition parties),
Lotfi released a video denying these claims and asserting that his son
was killed by government forces. It is worth noting that Kamal Lotfi was
previously detained on Monday, April 16, 2023, on one of the streets of
Dehgolan without the presentation of any judicial warrant by security
forces. Subsequently, he was transferred to Kamyaran Prison. Lotfi was
released from Kamyaran Prison on Tuesday, July 2, 2023, after spending
78 days in detention by posting bail temporarily pending the conclusion
of his trial proceedings. During his time in Kamyaran Prison, Lotfi was
diagnosed with a skin disease and undertook hunger strikes multiple
times due to the noncooperation regarding his transfer to medical
centers.>>

Qader Gorgij
Hengaw Organisation for Human Right - 22 April 2024
<<Inmate in Iran Loses Life Due to Lack of Medical Attention
Qader Gorgij, a Baloch inmate, lost his life due to a lack of medical
attention and delays in being transferred to a hospital in Zahedan.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human
Rights, on Sunday, April 21, 2024, 52-year-old Qader Gorgij, a resident
of Zahedan, passed away due to inadequate medical care and the
authorities' delay in arranging his transfer to a hospital for
treatment. He had spent the last 2 years, 6 months, and 22 days in the
central prison in Zahedan. He was eventually transferred to the prison
infirmary on Monday in critical condition and then to the public
healthcare hospital in Zahedan, where he succumbed to his condition.
Sources close to the case revealed that despite the family’s efforts and
Mr. Gorgij's poor health conditions, including underlying heart disease
and high blood pressure, the prison authorities did not permit his
transfer to a hospital outside the prison for treatment. Mr. Gorgij was
detained on October 1, 2021, during a raid on his residence without the
presentation of any judicial warrant. Since then, he had been held in
Zahedan prison with an indeterminate status. The Iranian government
authorities claimed his detention was due to drug-related offenses.>>

Exile to KermanSaman Yasin, a Kurdish singer-songwriter from Kermanshah
(Kermashan), a Yarsan adherent who was apprehended during the Jin, Jiyan,
Azadi (Woman, Life, Freedom) movement, has been sentenced by the
judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to five years in prison and
exile to a city in Kerman province. Despite being ill, this artist has
spent the last 567 days (19 months) in detention without the right to
leave. According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for
Human Rights, Saman Seydi, known as Saman Yasin, a Kurdish artist and
detainee of the Jin, Jiyan, Azadi movement, received a verdict from
Branch 15 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge
Amoozadeh. He was sentenced to five years of penal imprisonment and
exile to a city in Kerman. The court session addressing the charges
against Saman Yasin was held on April 17, 2024, and the verdict was
announced to his lawyer today, Sunday, April 21. The court sessions of
this Kurdish artist from Kermanshah have been repeatedly canceled for
various reasons. According to a statement by Saman Yasin's father,
Taymur Seydi, on his social media account, the trial session took place
on Wednesday, April 17, 2024. Previously, the artist had demanded that
his court session be held publicly and had called for the participation
of domestic and international lawyers and journalists. He urged them to
send their attendance requests to Judge Salavati and the court
authorities as soon as possible. Saman Yasin has stated that the
repeated cancellations of his court sessions and the deliberate
obstruction of his transfer to the hospital are part of a deliberate
process aimed at <destroying his body and mind> by security
institutions. On Wednesday, August 2, 2023, Saman Yasin was urgently
transferred from Rajaishahr Prison, along with a group of political
prisoners, to Ward 8 of Evin Prison, and then on September 3, from there
to Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj. On September 20, 2023, he was expelled
from Unit 3 of Ghezel Hesar Prison without permission to take his
personal belongings and was transferred to a section holding prisoners
convicted of drug-related crimes. On October 29, 2022, Saman Yasin was
sentenced to death by the Public and Revolutionary Court of Tehran on
charges including <Moharebeh> (waging war against God). This sentence
was later overturned by the Supreme Court, and his case was referred
back for re-examination to a court of the same level. Saman Seydi, known
as Saman Yasin, a songwriter, composer, and rapper from Kermanshah
residing in Tehran, was arrested on October 2, 2022, by security forces
at his home for supporting protests. After interrogation, he was

<<Iran Cracks Down on Women Amid Tensions With Israel
While global attention remains on Israel's possible response to recent
Iranian attacks, a government crackdown on women in Iran entered third
day.
According to eyewitnesses, the Morality Police and plainclothed agents
are apprehending women wearing non-compulsory clothing on the streets of
Iranian cities. The authorities have also persecuted some women who did
not have a headscarf in public. Among them is Faezeh Abdipour, a student
activist. On her social media account, she recounted, <I received a
phone call summoning me; they contacted my father.> According to reports
circulating on social media, several coffee shops in Mashhad were shut
down in the early hours of Tuesday for serving women without compulsory
covering. <If the police force's basis for this action is the Hijab and
Chastity Law, it's important to note that this bill has not yet passed
into law,> MP Alireza Nouri Qazaljeh said. The police command in Iran's
capital announced that beginning Saturday, there will be heightened
enforcement of mandatory hijab laws, warning Iranian women and girls of
legal repercussions if they fail to comply.>>
