journalist and blogger, on the one-year anniversary of the death of
Mahsa Amini in police custody. Announcing this development today Moini's
wife revealed on the X social media platform that her husband was
arrested at their home. In one of his recent posts on X Moini described
the heightened security situation in the city of Zanjan in the north of
the country on Friday, reporting the presence of armed forces and
members of Basij paramilitary forces on motorcycles without number
plates. Moini is the admin of the <Raz -e- Sar Be Mohr> blog (the name
means <A Sealed Secret>), which started its activities in 2003. He was

<<Amini's Father Still Under House Arrest, Relatives Kept Out
Amjad Amini, Mahsa's father, remains under house arrest in Saqqez and
separated from his wife, Mozhgan Eftekhari, on the one-year anniversary
of their daughter's death in police custody. Security agents are
preventing Amini's close family and relatives from entering their home
to offer condolences and observe the anniversary mourning ceremony. All
access routes to Amini's house have been blocked. Security forces have
also been deployed around the house. Amjad Amini has been under house
arrest since the early hours of this morning, following several hours of
detention by the Saqqez Intelligence Department. Stringent security
measures have been implemented in the area, particularly after the
announcement of the Saqqez community's intention to break Amjad Amini's
house arrest and show support for his family.>>

<<Mahsa Amini Protests Break Out in Iran Despite Heightened Security
Cities across Iran have been overtaken by military patrols and
checkpoints as security forces have been stationed at key locations to
prevent demonstrations on the one-year anniversary of Mahsa Amini's
death. Defiant protesters have nevertheless gathered in several cities -
as seen in videos received by IranWire today. In Tehran, videos received
by IranWire show Islamic Republic security forces at Enghelab Square
dispersing any gatherings of more than three people. Reports have also
emerged of masked agents arresting citizens in Tehran's Enghelab Square.
Despite the prevailing security measures, and renewed internet
disruptions, videos have surfaced showing citizens on buses chanting
slogans against Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. A video from a protest
rally in Gohardasht, Karaj, near Tehran, shows citizens chanting, <We
are a great nation, we will reclaim Iran.> Security forces in Karaj
fired tear gas when faced with protesters chanting <Our enemy is here
not America!> Protesters in Karaj also chanted <Death to Khamenei!> and
<Death to the dictator!> Similar slogans were chanted in Shiraz in the
southwest of the country. Iranians in Isfahan and Mashhad also joined
new demonstrations amid the heightened security situation. And in Mahsa
Amini's hometown of Saqqez, in Iranian Kurdistan, government forces have
blocked roads leading to the Aichi cemetery where Amini's grave is
located. The authorities have also blocked secondary routes to Amini's
grave by releasing waters from a nearby dam and flooding parts of the
area. The Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps has deployed heavily armed
forces to Saqqez where they are conducting patrols and questioning
residents. Heightened security measures in Kurdish towns are part of
efforts by the authorities to prevent unrest on the anniversary of
Amini's death. The 22-year-old Iranian Kurdish woman was killed on
September 16 last year when in the custody of Iran's morality police.
Her death sparked months of nationwide protests. Information obtained by
IranWire also suggests a widespread strike is ongoing in Kurdistan, West
Azerbaijan and Ilan provinces, and that shopkeepers have refused to open
their businesses. In many districts of Tehran, protesters chanted
slogans such as <Death to the dictator!> and <Woman, Life, Freedom!>
overnight. Many people gathered on residential building rooftops or
their own balconies from which they chanted slogans. Meanwhile, in
several western Kurdish towns, people set up roadblocks and honked their
car horns in support of demonstrations and against the government. Human
righ's website Hengaw reported that extensive security deployments in
the provinces of Kurdistan, Kermanshah, Ilam and West Azarbaijan had not
deterred fresh protest gatherings from taking place in Abdanan,
Kermanshah, Marivan, Sanandaj and Baneh on Friday evening.
In Abdanan, a city in Ilam province, a group of protesters lit fires in
the streets.
Piranshahr, in West Azerbaijan, saw similar scenes as people gathered to
commemorate Aminis anniversary by sounding their horns and building
protest roadblocks.>>

<<Man Shot in Head Near Amini's Grave
Iranian armed forces have reportedly shot a young man in the head near
the cemetery where Mahsa Amini is buried in the Kurdish town of Saqqez.
Today is the one-year anniversary of the death of the 22-year-old woman
in police custody that sparked months of protests across the country.
Fardin Jafari, 27, from Saqqez, was shot by government forces while
travelling from Saqqez to the city of Baneh, near Aichi cemetery. This
incident occurred in the vicinity of the petrol stations along Baneh
Road, in the direction of the cemetery. Jafari was initially taken to
Khomeini Hospital, but later security forces transferred him to Shafa
Hospital in Saqqez. A source from Shafa Hospital told IranWire that
although Jafari is still alive, his condition is critical.>>

<<IRGC Deploys Heavily Armed Forces in Saqqez
The Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) has deployed heavily armed
forces to Shahnaz Square, the heart of Mahsa Amini's home town of Saqqez,
where they are conducting inspections and questioning residents on the
one-year anniversary of her death. Shahnaz Square is in the Karimabad
district, which was the epicentre of citywide protests in Saqqez last
year. The protests were sparked by the death of Amini, a 22-year-old
Kurdish woman who died in police custody after being arrested for
wearing her headscarf <improperly>. According to local sources, the IRGC
military personnel present include individuals ranging from children
under 15 years old to elderly citizens. They are positioned along Vahdat
Boulevard, at the three-way junction near the city's hospital and in
close proximity to Zindan Square. Despite these obstacles, people are
determined to pay their respects to Amini, exhibiting unwavering
resolve. Their determination prompted them to chart an alternative route
through the villages of Khider and Hijanan towards Aichi cemetery.>>

<<-Mahsa Aminis family home surrounded by security forces.
<<The family house of Mahsa Amini has been completely surrounded by
heavily armed Iranian security forces on the one-year anniversary of her
death, IranWire reports. According to photos obtained by IranWire, Mahsa
Amini's father's home is currently encircled by security forces, and
movement around his house is under strict control. Amjad Amini has been
under house arrest since the early hours of this morning, following
several hours of detention by the Saqqez intelligence department.
Stringent security measures have been implemented in the area,
particularly after the announcement of the Saqqez community's intention
to break the house arrest and show support for the Amini family.
Amjad Amini is also still prohibited from appearing in public places.
Many Iranians have nevertheless tried to reach Amini's grave in the face
of obstacles created by security forces. Their determination prompted
them to find alternative routes through the villages of Khider and
Hijanan towards the Aichi cemetery. The gates of a nearby dam were also
unexpectedly opened overnight - transforming the once-dry river into a
surging body of water and creating new access challenges for locals and
demonstrators.>>

<<Women Prisoners Burn Headscarves on Amini Anniversary
A group of women political prisoners incarcerated in Tehran's notorious
Evin prison have burned their headscarves on the one-year anniversary of
Mahsa Amini's death in police custody. <To voice our opposition to the
unyielding cruelty of the religious authoritarian government, on
September 16 - a day when using the pretext of compulsory hijab, our
nation grieved the unjust loss of Mahsa and many other Iranian men and
women - we burned our headscarves in Evin prison's courtyard,> a
statement posted on prisoner Narges Mohammadi's Instagram account reads.
Golrokh Eraei, Shakila Monfared and Azadeh Abedini are the other
signatories of the statement.
The burning of headscarves by protesters was one of the initial actions
used during the <Woman, Life, Freedom> movement, symbolising their
resistance to societal restrictions. This demonstration by female
political prisoners coincided with male political prisoners' declaration
of a hunger strike in solidarity with the protesters on the anniversary
of Amini's death. In a statement released on Friday on social media,
student prisoners Ali Younesi and Amir Hossein Moradi said they were
launching their hunger strike <in solidarity with the uprising of the
people of Iran.> <An uprising is under way, an uprising for freedom, an
uprising to dismantle any form of dictatorship, whether it wears a crown
or a turban,> they said. Five other political and civil activists
incarcerated in Evin prison - Mostafa Tajzadeh, Saeed Madani, Hossein
Razzaq, Mehdi Mahmoudian and Mohammad Najafi - have announced their
intention to join the hunger strike.>>

<<Grave of Girl Killed During Protests Desecrated
The grave of Nika Shakarami, a victim of the <Woman, Life, Freedom>
movement protests, has been desecrated by Iranian authorities on the
one-year anniversary of Mahsa Amini's death in police custody. According
to Iranian activist Barbad Golshiri, agents of the regime spray-painted
Shakarami's grave black and blocked access to it in the city of
Khorramabad in Lorestan province. Golshiri posted on his X account:
<News has emerged from Khorramabad showing the desecration of the
beloved Nika Shakarami's grave.> <They have vandalised the grave,
damaged the surrounding trees and defaced the memorial site with black
paint. In addition, they have cordoned off all routes leading to the
site,> he added.
Shakarami, 16, disappeared in Tehran on September 20 last year, four
days after the death of Amini in police custody. Her family was informed
of her death 10 days later. She is thought to have been killed by
security forces. The government has previously desecrated the graves of
other victims of the protests, such as Mohsen Shekhari and Mustafa Karim
Beigi. Shekhari, 22, was executed by the Islamic Republic in December
last year after being convicted of <waging war against God.> Karim Beigi,
26, was killed during protests in Tehran in December 2009. The Islamic
regime has also used other tactics to intimidate and exert pressure on
the families of those who lost their lives in the protests. Video
footage shared on social media shows a large number of anti-riot
vehicles and motorcycle units stationed in several western Iranian
towns. The increased security measures in Iran's western regions have
raised concerns about potential clashes between protesters and security
forces on the anniversary of Amini's death today.>>

<<Protests Erupt Across Iran Ahead of Amini Anniversary
Protests erupted in numerous Iranian cities yesterday evening as the
nation prepared to mark the first anniversary of Mahsa Amini's death in
custody today. The 22-year-old had been arrested for allegedly not
wearing the hijab in accordance with government standards. Eyewitnesses
said she was severely beaten. In many districts of Tehran protesters
chanted slogans such as <Death to the dictator!> and <Woman, Life,
Freedom!> Some gathered on the roofs of residential buildings or stood
on their balconies. Meanwhile, in several western Kurdish towns, people
set up roadblocks and honked their car horns. In western Saqqez, Amini's
home town, amid massive security presence, Amini's family visited her
grave. In Karaj, near the capital, protesters chanted <Death to Khamenei!>
and <Death to the dictator!> Similar slogans were chanted in Shiraz in
the southwest of the country. Human rights website Hengaw reported that
despite extensive security deployments in the provinces of Kurdistan,
Kermanshah, Ilam and West Azarbaijan, <protest gatherings> took place in
Abdanan, Kermanshah, Marivan, Sanandaj and Baneh on Friday evening.
Protesters lit fires in some areas of Marivan in northwestern Iran and
chanted slogans. In Abdanan, a city in Ilam province, a group of
protesters set fires in the streets. Piranshahr in West Azerbaijan
witnessed similar scenes as people gathered to commemorate Amini's
anniversary by sounding their horns and building protest roadblocks. In
the city of Mahabad, also in West Azerbaijan, protesters played
revolutionary songs from the loudspeakers of several mosques.
Amini's relatives went to Aichi cemetery on Friday evening with
helicopters hovering over their heads. Military personnel and police
officers were stationed throughout the area. A massive presence of armed
security forces was also reported around Amini's family home in Saqqez.
According to the Kurdistan Human Rights Network there was a massive
deployment of police special forces and Islamic Revolutionary Guards
Corps troops in western cities. Videos shared on social media showed a
large number of anti-riot vehicles and motorcycle units stationed on
Kermanshah's Azadi Square. The increased security measures in Iran's
western regions have raised concerns about potential clashes between
protesters and security forces on the anniversary of Amini's death
today. The tragedy sparked months of protests by people demanding
economic, social and political changes in the country. More than 500
people were killed, including dozens of children, and over 22,000 others
were unlawfully detained in the state crackdown on the protest movement,
activists say. Following unfair trials the judiciary has handed down
stiff sentences, including the death penalty, to protesters.>>

<<Security Forces Block Routes to Amini's Grave
Iranian armed security forces are stopping people from entering Aichi
cemetery in Mahsa Amini's home town of Saqqez to commemorate the
one-year anniversary of the young woman's death in police custody,
IranWire reports. The Western Kurdish city had anticipated marking the
anniversary at 9 am, with the focal point of the commemoration set to be
Zindan Square. But an eerie silence shrouded the city in the early
morning hours as roads were cordoned off and public squares inundated by
a formidable presence of security agents. As groups of people embarked
on their way towards Aichi cemetery, Amini's final resting place, they
were met with a show of force by heavily armed officers. In various
locations the officers barred passage to ordinary citizens, and they
dispersed multiple groups along routes leading to Zindan Square,
effectively obstructing their progress towards the cemetery. In addition
to the numerous officers deployed on Zindan Square, groups of
motorcyclists cruised along Enghelab Boulevard, the route leading to the
square. Their actions effectively prevented citizens from advancing.
Despite these obstacles, individuals were determined to pay their
respects to Amini, exhibiting unwavering resolve. Their determination
prompted them to chart an alternative route through the villages of
Khider and Hijanan towards Aichi. A nearby dam's gates were unexpectedly
opened overnight, transforming the once-dry river into a surging body of
water.
Along this alternative path people now face the challenge of fording the
river on their route to Aichi.>>

<<Amini's Father Briefly Detained in Home Town
Iranian security forces have briefly detained Amjad Amini, the father of
Mahsa Amini, on the one-year anniversary of his daughter's death,
IranWire reports. Local sources from the family's home town of Saqqez
reported that Amjad Amini was held at the Saqqez Intelligence Department
for several hours before being released. The incident occurred amidst
escalating pressure on the Amini family in recent weeks. Mahsa Amini's
family visited her grave in the western Kurdish city on the eve of the
anniversary Friday night. The young woman's relatives went to Aichi

<<Mahsa's Family Visits Her Grave amid Huge Security Presence
Amid massive security presence, Mahsa Amini's family visited her grave
in the western Kurdish city of Saqqez on the eve of the one-year
anniversary of the young woman's death, IranWire has learned. Mahsa's
relatives went to Aichi cemetery on the evening of September 15, as
helicopters were hovering over their heads and military personnel and
police officers were stationed throughout the area. The security forces
conducted physical searches on people entering the cemetery and checked
their IDs. Cars with license plates from outside Saqqez were
photographed. Several army vehicles were positioned at the entrance of
the cemetery, inside which nearly 100 security forces formed a corridor
leading to Mahsa's tomb. Members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard
Corps (IRGC) and police personnel were also deployed across the
cemetery. The number of surveillance cameras monitoring Mahsa's tomb has
dramatically increased. The escalated security measures in and outside
Aichi cemetery is part of efforts by the authorities to prevent protests
on the anniversary of Mahsa's death, which sparked months of nationwide
protests. A massive presence of armed security forces was also reported
